Preserving metadata when converting to
What metadata survives the conversion in Convert Video, and what gets stripped (and why that matters).
source format and target format both have their place — but when you need one and you've got the other, Convert Video is the cleanest way to convert between them in your browser.

What metadata survives the conversion
Most embedded metadata (EXIF for images, ID3 for audio, etc.) is preservable across the conversion, but Convert Video defaults to stripping it for privacy. If you specifically need to keep metadata, there's a toggle.
Stripped metadata can include: GPS location, camera serial number, edit history, original filename, capture time. Strip by default unless you have a reason to keep it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I convert in bulk?
Yes — drop multiple files; Convert Video processes them all with the same settings.
Will the target format look as good as the source format?
For most content, yes — Convert Video's defaults target visually indistinguishable output.
Will the file size go down?
Usually yes — target format typically compresses better than source format for equivalent visible quality.
What source format variants does Convert Video support?
Convert Video handles the standard variants of source format that mainstream software produces. Niche or obsolete variants may need a converter that handles legacy formats first.
