Robots.txt Generator for printed materials

Print is where file generation gets specific. The file needs to scan reliably from a few inches away, under uncontrolled lighting, possibly slightly crumpled or smudged.

Sizing rules

  • Minimum size for scanning at arm's length: 2 cm × 2 cm (about 0.8 inches).
  • For posters meant to be scanned from across a room: at least 10 cm × 10 cm, scaled up linearly with distance.
  • Always include the quiet zone — the empty border. Without it, scanners struggle.

Print-specific tips

Generate at the largest size you'll need, then scale down in the layout — never up. PNG with high error-correction is the safest format for press output. Test with a real phone before you commit to the print run.
